NON-EARNER BENEFITS (NEB’S):
If you were not employed at the time of the accident, you may be entitled to a non-earner benefit from the accident benefit insurer, for a weekly amount of $185. The waiting period for meeting eligibility for non-earner is now 4 weeks, meaning, for the first 4 weeks of your injury (following a car accident) you are not eligible for this benefit.
This benefit is available for a maximum of two years. This benefit is also eligible for students, stay at home parents and retirees. In order to qualify for this benefit, you will need to establish that you are substantially unable to perform your daily tasks as you had prior to the car accident. Also, you cannot receive both the non-earner benefit and income replacement benefit, in the event that you qualify for both. You will have to make an election to receive one of the benefits.
If you have been injured in a car accident in Ontario and would like to receive more information on the income replacement Benefit, call Pranzitelli Law Firm and we will be happy to discuss it further.
